IPN-DiverseK ECR virtual Workshop

Paleofire research: methods, development and opportunities

26-27 May 2021

The International Paleofire Network, in cooperation with PAGES DiverseK Working Group, is happy to announce and invite all Early Career Researchers interested in the fields of palaeoecology, archeology, modellers and those working with fire records to a virtual workshop centered around paleofire research and its application to biodiversity management.

During a two-day meeting we will have several talks about  paleofire methods and how to apply them for different purposes and in various ecological and regional contexts. The presentations will cover different time scales, paleofire techniques and studies on several ecosystems around the globe to highlight how universally charcoal can be applied to obtain fascinating and novel results.

In the second day, there will be a panel discussion between all the attendees for a deeper debate on charcoal methods, and their potential use, and applications to solve real world problems. It will be a great opportunity to meet ECRs with different background and to start a platform that fosters collaboration between ECRs across the globe through various aspects of paleofire research.
