Paleofire and Management at the VIII International Conference on Forest Fire Research in Coimbra, Portugal, November 10-16, 2018

[abstracts for the conference are due by March 15]

The session will focus on creating a dialogue between scientists and management agencies about how paleofire studies can best be used to inform management, whether it be establishing baselines for conservation, examining climate-vegetation-fire linkages for policy considerations or assessing fire risk in drinking reservoir catchments. We hope to attract participants that are either already focused on working with agencies or developing methods and practices toward this goal.  The session will slot into the theme Socio Econonomic Issues – Paleofire and Management.
